Ryan Seacrest Reveals “Wheel of Fortune” Secrets

Ryan Seacrest, the new host of “Wheel of Fortune,” has opened up about some behind-the-scenes details during an interview promoting the show’s 43rd season. He succeeded Pat Sajak last year and shared a surprising tidbit that caught co-host Vanna White off guard: the familiar click sound made during the wheel spins comes from a hidden rubber band mechanism.

“Did you know that click sound? It’s kind of like having braces; there’s a rubber band that creates that noise,” Seacrest explained during a segment on “Good Morning America.”

Vanna White admitted she was unaware of this detail, to which Seacrest jovially replied, “Well, welcome to Season 43!”

Pat Sajak’s retirement came after an impressive 42-year tenure as host, with Seacrest officially taking over shortly after Sajak’s announcement. White also confirmed her commitment to remain on the show through the 2025-2026 season.

“Wheel of Fortune,” which first aired in 1975, saw Sajak as host starting in 1981, with White joining him a year later. Sajak’s charm, described as “like humidity,” has made him one of the most beloved hosts in game show history.

Doug Eldridge, PR founder, pointed out that Sajak’s personality helped him connect with contestants, celebrating their wins and comforting them in defeat with his signature smile.

Looking ahead, this season promises to elevate the excitement. According to a press release, the theme “Fun of Fun!” aims to boost engagement for both studio and home audiences, introducing more tournaments, prizes, and entertaining moments.

Bellamy Blackstone, the executive producer of the show, emphasized how Seacrest’s warmth and playful interactions with contestants have contributed to the show’s success. With this new approach, they hope to continue building on the successes of last season.
