Firefighters Battle Blaze in Antelope

Recently released video shows the urgency firefighters faced as they entered a smoke-filled home, where flames were raging through the second floor and into the roof. The footage captures their efforts to protect two homes from the swiftly advancing fire.

In the video, firefighters are seen running through an ash-covered interior, hoses in hand, as they ascend to the second floor engulfed in flames, with bright orange fire illuminating the roof above.

Crews sprayed water into the burning attic and used axes to open the back door, attempting to control the flames near a barbecue area in the backyard.

Thanks to a strong and coordinated effort, the fire was contained to just the two impacted homes, preventing it from spreading further and sparing neighboring properties from destruction.

This dramatic incident took place Monday afternoon on the 4000 block of Tawny Meadow Way in Antelope, close to Elberta Road and North Loop Boulevard, around 2:30 p.m.

The fire reportedly began outside between the two homes before it swiftly spread to the buildings.

By the time the firefighters arrived, flames had already extended into the homes, prompting a second alert for more resources. Fortunately, both homeowners had been evacuated safely prior to their arrival, and there were no reported injuries among residents or firefighters.

As for the cause of the fire, that remains under investigation.

This Antelope fire was one of three reported around the same time on Monday. The other incidents occurred along Grand Avenue in Sacramento and at Oakboro Avenue and Foxhollow Way in Roseville.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reminded residents about the importance of keeping smoke alarms active. They stated, “Smoke alarms save lives. Test your smoke alarms monthly and replace the batteries according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. A working smoke alarm will give you the critical early warning you need to escape safely.”
