Sam Darnold’s Vikings playoff debut off to disastrous start

Maybe the ghost of MetLife has come to State Farm Stadium.

Sam Darnold's first half of playoff football quickly turned disastrous as the Vikings quarterback and Jets castoff turned the ball over twice and had six sacks, giving the Rams a double-digit lead in the NFC Wild Card round. I jumped out.

Darnold revived his career under Kevin O'Connell during the regular season, throwing for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

He helped Minnesota come close to winning in Week 18 and clinching the top seed in the NFC.

But with the Vikings facing the Rams for a playoff start, Darnold led to a field goal on his second drive and turned the ball over on his next two possessions.

After Minnesota drove into Los Angeles territory, Koby Durant intercepted Darnold's snap, Ahello Witherspoon sacked Darnold, forcing a fumble, and Jared Verse scooped up the ball and raced 57 yards for a touchdown. I got a knockdown.

The Vikings led 24-3 at halftime, with Darnold completing 13 of 16 passes for 113 yards and two turnovers.
