Sara Haines addresses Joy Behar's assertion that Jesus never referred to himself as the Messiah

Joy Behar’s Controversial Claims on Jesus Spark Debate on “The View”

During a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Joy Behar made headlines when she stated that Jesus Christ never referred to himself as the savior, an assertion that was quickly countered by her colleague Sarah Haines.

In response to President Donald Trump’s posts, which many labeled as “blasphemous” AI-generated images showing him in a Jesus-like role, Haines remarked that this seemed reminiscent of biblical prophecies. “In both Matthew and Mark,” she noted, “Jesus cautions his followers not to be misled by false prophets claiming to be Christ and performing miracles.”

Haines added, with a hint of sarcasm, “It’s almost clever of him; he’s really acting like he’s the coming of Christ.”

Meanwhile, fellow co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, observing that some Trump supporters view him as a messianic figure. “I really hope they realize he’s a false prophet. There’s no denying that,” she stated. Behar, however, insisted that Jesus would not have run around proclaiming, “I am the Messiah!”

To this, Haines shot back, “That’s exactly what Jesus said!” Behar remained firm, insisting, “Jesus was not narcissistic like this man.” Haines retorted, suggesting that claiming to be the Messiah wouldn’t constitute narcissism.

After the heated exchange, co-host Whoopi Goldberg attempted to steer the conversation in a different direction, asserting, “We’re going to move on.” She emphasized, “God is with the pope. He will take care of this,” adding a pointed remark directed at Trump: “No one believes you were a doctor—not even your own supporters.”

The discussion followed on the heels of Trump’s controversial social media activity over the weekend, which drew criticism from various Christian groups. Trump claimed that an image depicting him in a robe and surrounded by a holy aura was merely an artistic representation of him as a doctor. He later removed the post.

Goldberg underscored the pope’s role in promoting peace among leaders, echoing Jesus’s teachings about peacemaking, a sentiment supported by co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin.

As the dialogue unfolded, it became clear that tensions around the intersection of politics and religion continue to be a hot topic, leaving some opinions feeling, well, a bit unresolved.
