Sarah Michelle Gellar recently took a moment to remember her friend, the late Shannen Doherty, sharing a heartfelt montage of their memories on Instagram as a tribute on the anniversary of Doherty’s passing.

In the post, which included a soundtrack of “You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, the photos depicted moments of joy—friends embracing, horseback riding, and cooking together. Gellar, 48, conveyed her emotions simply with a broken heart emoji.

Doherty, who lost her battle with Stage 4 breast cancer, passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 53. Gellar and Doherty had been friends for more than three decades, and Gellar expressed her support for Doherty, especially during challenging times while filming “Charmed.” Gellar once remarked, “What’s amazing about her is the flaws and everything, she shows it all.” She recognized the difficulties Doherty faced but emphasized that her friend had evolved as a person.

Close friends, including Gellar, stood by Doherty throughout her cancer fight. Doherty’s “Charmed” co-star, Holly Marie Combs, also reflected on the situation, mentioning that Doherty believed she had more time ahead of her. Combs stated, “I think she did as much as she could in the time she had, but I thought we had more time.” The pain of unfulfilled plans lingered, as they had envisioned more shared experiences—time they believed they would have together.
