Satellite imagery released on Sunday illustrates the effects of a US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, an action President Trump announced the prior evening.
Employing B-2 bombers equipped with “bunker buster” bombs, as well as submarines and Tomahawk missiles, the US intervened in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel by targeting three nuclear sites.
The American strikes specifically hit facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow.
According to the Associated Press, satellite images from Maxar Technologies show significant damage to the infrastructure at the Isfahan nuclear site when comparing images from before and after the strikes.
Another comparison of images from Maxar Technologies highlights destruction at the Fordow facility, revealing darkened landscapes, craters, and signs of ash.
In a Saturday evening speech, the president asserted, “Iran’s major nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely wiped out.” He reiterated these claims on Sunday, emphasizing that satellite images confirm extensive damage across all sites. He described the facilities as being “embedded deep in the rocks, far below ground level,” with most of the damage occurring beneath the surface.
On NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday morning, Vice President JD Vance claimed that the US had achieved a substantial setback to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “We destroyed Iran’s nuclear program,” he remarked, suggesting that the program was significantly set back without risking American pilots’ lives.
