'Saturday Night Live UK' mocks Shane Gillis' 'SNL' monologue with a risqué joke

Saturday Night Live UK Responds to Shane Gillis’ Controversy

“Saturday Night Live UK” humorously addressed Shane Gillis’ contentious monologue regarding women’s gym apparel from the US edition of the show.

During the “Weekend Update” segment, Ania Magliano noted, “A ride operator at Munich Oktoberfest was praised for giving out free cycling shorts to female riders.”

She further commented, “While wearing the gym shorts may help protect women from being upskirted, it unfortunately opens them up to potentially worse issues,” as a picture of Gillis flashed on screen.

As the audience chuckled, Magliano moved on to discuss Gillis’ explicit comments made during his “SNL” appearance.

“Just last week on ‘SNL,’ comedian Shane Gillis stirred up controversy after dropping the F-bomb,” she remarked. “Oh, Shane. You really can’t say that, you reckless person.”

Page Six attempted to reach Gillis’ representative but received no comment.

In his October 10 monologue, Gillis claimed he hadn’t been to the gym for a long while, adding that women were “dressing like whores now.”

The 38-year-old comedian also faced backlash for cursing live during a sketch related to Dr. Seuss, for which he later expressed regret towards the end of the show.

His remarks concerning women’s gym outfits sparked immediate criticism on social media from various personalities, including Dan Levy, Jenna Bush Hager, Kathy Griffin, and others.

Levy, the star of “Schitt’s Creek,” asserted in an Instagram Reel, “Women wearing short shorts to the gym aren’t whores. It’s the men who label them that way who are the problem. There’s a clear distinction.”

He added, “Interestingly, I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women flaunting their bodies. It’s shocking that such statements can come out on live television.”

As of now, Gillis hasn’t responded to the criticism he has received.
