Scaramucci: Trump 'coming to grips' with defeat, 'growing darker'

Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci On Thursday Former President Trump is “coming to terms” with his failure to retake the White House and that “things are darker” as a result.

“Psychologically, Trump is coming to terms with losing this election, and it’s making him a darker person,” Scaramucci said. He said in a post on the social platform. X.

“It’s going to be a tough 81 days,” added Scarmucci, who served briefly in the Trump administration before becoming a vocal critic of the former president.

President Trump has repeatedly hurled personal insults at Vice President Harris, who is expected to become the Democratic presidential nominee at next week’s convention, but Republicans are pressuring her to focus on policy differences.

“President Trump’s winning formula is very clear,” former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway told Fox Business host Larry Kudlow earlier this week. “It’s fewer insults, more insight and more policy contrast.”

Trump said at a press conference on Thursday that Harris is “entitled to personal attacks.”

“I don’t have a lot of respect for her,” Trump said, “I don’t have a lot of respect for her intellect, and I think she’d be a terrible president.”

“And I think it’s very important that we win,” Trump continued, “and whether personal attacks are good or bad. She has certainly attacked me personally. She actually called me a weirdo.”

Harris has been leading in recent polls: The Hill/Decision Desk average of national polls shows her leading Trump by 1.8 points, with the vice president’s approval rating at 49% and the former president’s at 47.2%.

A recent New York Times/Siena College poll also found Harris leading by four points in three key battleground states: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment on Scaramucci’s remarks.
