Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Friday that former President Trump’s hush money trial in New York serves as a “mandatory loyalty test.”
“This is a mandatory loyalty test for some, but not all, high-level Republican officials,” Scaramucci said. Said He appeared on CNN’s “The Lead” with anchor Jake Tapper. “They’re using the same hand signals as Donald Trump. They’re wearing the same clothes as Donald Trump.”
“But that’s never enough for Donald Trump,” he added.
His comments came after several Republican politicians traveled to New York to watch Trump’s hush money trial. Most prominent among those in attendance were Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-R., R.V.), and House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-Va.). , Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado).
“Unfortunately for Michael Cohen and others who have worked for Trump, including myself, Michael Cohen has said that nothing pleases him and that he is unbelievable. “I learned that he loves making deals,” Scaramucci continued.
Good, who was in court Thursday, said he and his colleagues went to the trial in solidarity with Trump, who remains under a gag order in the case.
“They have a gag order against him,” Good said Friday on FOX Business’ “Varney & Company.” “That’s why we went there. It’s so we can have a say…We’re not allowing this corrupt judge to have a say.”
The order was expanded to restrict him from commenting publicly about witnesses, prosecutors, court staff and Judge Juan Merchan’s family. However, he can make statements about judges and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
“This judge seems to be resolving all the high-profile conservative cases,” Good continued in an interview on FOX Business. “And his own daughter is raising tens of millions of dollars for Democrats in this very case.”
President Trump is facing 34 charges of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 payment made by Cohen to adult film star Story Daniels late in the 2016 election. Her hush money payments were intended to keep her quiet from going public with allegations that she had an affair with the former president in 2006, which he denies.
Mr. Daniels and Mr. Trump’s former personal lawyer Mr. Cohen both testified at the trial. Cross-examination of Mr. Cohen is expected to continue next week.
