Scarlett Johansson, Martha Stewart, and many socialites gather for Central Park’s renowned ‘Hat Lunch’

A vibrant gathering took place on Wednesday for the esteemed Frederick Law Olmsted Award luncheon, where the city’s most stylish women showcased impressive headwear, helping to raise $4.3 million for Central Park.

Scarlett Johansson made a stylish appearance, opting for a chic black outfit—perhaps a nod to her Black Widow character—with a statement hat obscuring part of her face.

Martha Stewart, a familiar face at the event, sported a vintage gold hat from Bar Harbor, Maine, cheerfully noting she got it simply because she loves gold.

She remarked, “Honestly, when else can you wear a hat like this? Aside from the Derby, of course. Here, you have 1,200 women all dressed up, and it’s just a lot of fun.”

Former Mayor Mike Bloomberg, another regular, attended without a hat, but joked about the park—which he described as one of the best in the world. “You simply can’t imagine New York or America without Central Park. It’s open to everyone, no matter their background, and they coexist in a way that’s pretty special,” he said.

Guests showcased a variety of creative and beautiful hats. From floral headdresses to flamboyant designs, the creativity was on full display. Some hats even represented New York City themes—a standout piece featured a red apple adorned with jewels while another had a miniature taxi cab.

As the event also honored the late Norma Dana, a founding member of the Central Park Conservancy Women’s Committee, it served as a bittersweet moment. Dana had passed away in 2024 at the age of 93, and her contributions were warmly remembered.

Overall, it was a delightful day filled with laughter, fashion, and a generous spirit towards preserving one of the city’s gems.
