Prominent Democrats Praise Trump for Hostage Release and Ceasefire
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, along with Bill and Hillary Clinton, are among notable Democrats expressing their support for President Donald Trump following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, as well as the return of living hostages. This comes after the terrorist group Hamas released all 20 remaining hostages held in Gaza on Monday.
“Today is a great day. Finally, the last living hostage, who was brutally held by Hamas, is back. There’s an enormous sigh of relief today,” Schumer remarked in a statement. He acknowledged the relentless efforts of the hostage families and recognized Trump’s administration for their support in achieving this outcome.
Former President Bill Clinton also weighed in, saying, “President Trump, his administration, Qatar, and other regional players deserve significant credit for maintaining engagement until a deal was accomplished.”
While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after addressing the Israeli parliament, Trump reacted positively to Clinton’s remarks, saying, “I’ve always liked Bill Clinton and got along with him. I thought that was quite good. He’s being honest.”
Hillary Clinton echoed this sentiment during a CBS News interview, commending Trump and regional leaders for their commitment to a 20-point plan aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza. This plan was released by the Trump administration in late September.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who faced off against Trump in the 2024 elections, also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of those involved in the hostage release, stating, “I commend the people who have been part of this process, including the Qataris and Egyptians, and the president.”
The ongoing dialogue and efforts seem to indicate a potential ray of hope in a long-standing and complicated situation.
