House Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif), began to question Schumer's leadership by feeling it was a key moment to fight the Trump administration.

Additionally, Schumer has also recently emerged, saying he will not step down as a leader in the Senate minority, doubleping his decision to vote in favor of the spending bill.

“Look, I'm not resigning,” Schumer began with Sunday's segment. NBCMeet the media with host Kristen Welker. “When I voted against the government shutdown, I knew it would be. I knew there was a lot of controversy, and it was there.”

“Under the closure, the administrative agencies have the sole power to decide what is “essential.” And they can decide without court supervision,” he continued. “The court, together with Musk, Doge, Trump and this man, appointed enforcers of what to close. [Russell] Vought…As the Head OMB (US Office of Management and Budget), they will be the federal government. ”

“That's right [be] Schumer pleaded. “There's no off-ramp. Who decides how long the shutdown will last? Only those evil people at the top of the Trump administration's administrative division.”

Welker asked Schumer if he believes he is making the same mistake as President Biden when he loses confidence within the party and fails to drop out quickly.

“No, it's definitely not. I was convinced of this,” he replied. “It was a voting of principles, do you know?”

“When you're a leader, you sometimes have to do something to avoid the real danger that might go down the curve,” Schumer added. “I did it out of pure beliefs about what leaders should do and what is right for America and my party. People don't agree.”
