Humanity faces a crucial decision regarding how to respond to possible extraterrestrial contact. One expert has raised concerns that interstellar objects might serve as alien probes.
Avi Loeb, a theoretical physicist from Harvard, has urged global leaders to take UFOs seriously and to consider unifying their efforts.
“I think we need an international organization that makes policy decisions about these objects,” Loeb expressed during a recent interview with NewNation.
He pointed out the focus on existential risks from artificial intelligence, climate change, and asteroid impacts, but lamented the lack of discussion about potential alien technology, as highlighted in a segment aired on Friday.
Loeb’s remarks come in light of his assertion that an interstellar object detected in June, known as 31/Atlas, could be an alien craft deliberately maneuvering towards Earth.
He emphasized that this object doesn’t display the typical characteristics of comets—being much larger than usual and lacking the classic tail. Instead, it features a light source in front of it.
If this object is indeed on a trajectory that brings it close to our planet, Loeb believes we must evaluate what its purpose might be, should it turn out to be of extraterrestrial origin.
“Response must depend on its properties and its intent. What is it doing as it approaches us?” he urged.
He likened the situation to having a visitor in your backyard: “You can’t establish a policy for every visitor. It really hinges on their intentions, and it’s right next door.”
