Keith Olbermann’s Controversial Social Media Post
Keith Olbermann seems to have issued a public threat toward Scott Jennings on social media, prompting responses from CNN commentators who tagged the FBI’s social accounts.
On Monday, Olbermann tweeted, “You’re next, motherf**ker,” directed at Jennings.
He later reflected, “I should have admitted the deletion and apologized yesterday. Sorry for the delay.”
The tweet faced backlash for being excessive, especially following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Eventually, Olbermann deleted the provocative message.
In response, Jennings tagged FBI Director Kash Patel and included screenshots of the threats that had been deleted.
Olbermann attempted to clarify his words, arguing that he was referencing the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show by ABC. “Now we’re removing fascists from real television. That means your career is next, Jennings. Send tapes to the real American voice,” he explained, adding, “But amateurs, continue robbing the camera.”
Eventually, he offered a more contrite explanation on Tuesday.
“I apologize without reservation to @scottjenningsky. Yesterday, I wrote two responses to him about Kimmel and quickly deleted them, as they could be misunderstood as threats beyond just his career,” he stated.
Olbermann also declared, “I oppose and condemn political violence and its threats. It’s always inappropriate to leave an inadvertent impression. However, this time I particularly missed the mark. I should have acknowledged the deletion and apologized yesterday. Sorry for the delay.”
Having initially made a name for himself as a sports commentator at ESPN, Olbermann transitioned into politics and has since been vocal in his criticism of Republicans, often making provocative remarks.
