Scott Jensen Announces Another Bid for Governor of Minnesota
Former Minnesota Senator Dr. Scott Jensen, a Republican who previously ran against Tim Walz in the 2022 gubernatorial race, has declared his intention to run for governor again.
In a recent campaign video, Jensen said, “Twenty years of liberal policies have made Minnesota too expensive and dangerous, and it’s hurt our culture. Tim Walz has made those issues worse. We need to hold our leaders accountable, and Tim Walz hasn’t faced that.”
It’s interesting to note that former President Donald Trump had endorsed Jensen during the last election cycle before he lost to Walz.
Trump praised Jensen, stating, “We finally have the chance to bring a great governor to Minnesota. Dr. Scott Jensen will pull the state back from the edge. His focus on fighting crime and solid education will lead to visible results. Minnesota will be great again, and he has my full support!”
Meanwhile, Walz, currently in his second term without any term limits, might also pursue another run next year, which adds a layer of complexity to the upcoming election.
Jensen, backed by Trump’s endorsement, is clearly positioning himself as a strong contender trying to capitalize on what he views as Walz’s failures. It’s a familiar narrative in politics: blaming the current administration as a means to rally support for a new candidate. There’s always some unpredictability in elections, right? Who knows how the public will respond this time around.
As the campaign unfolds, it’ll be intriguing to see how voters perceive the issues at hand and whether they are swayed by Jensen’s criticisms or Walz’s record in office.
