Scottie Scheffler making history as massive favorite

Scottie Scheffler entered unusual territory ahead of this week’s PGA Championship.

The world’s No. 1 golfer is an unprecedented +450 favorite to win the tournament at BetMGM Sportsbook within 24 hours of Thursday’s first tee time.

This is a great Tiger Woods line as Scheffler looks to win his second straight major.

According to SportsOddsHistory.com, he is the shortest favorite to win the PGA Championship since Woods won the 2013 tournament at +400.

Scheffler is one month away from winning his second career green jacket as the biggest pre-Masters favorite since Woods posted a +350 before the first round in 2013.

The birth of his first child has kept Scheffler off the golf course in recent weeks, but he entered the PGA Championship as one of the hottest players in recent memory.

Scheffler has won four of his past five starts and finished tied for second in the only tournament he didn’t finish at the top.

He has also finished in the top 10 in eight consecutive races since mid-January.

Bettors are hoping he continues this incredible rise this week in Valhalla.

At BetMGM, more than 18% of wagers and 29% of winnings go towards new dads winning tournaments, both of which are arguably the best in the field.

Similarly, Rory McIlroy, who is aiming to win his first major in nearly a decade at Valhalla Golf Club, has the second-best odds at +750.

McIlroy also received a lot of love from sports bettors, winning 11% of bets and 13% of winnings.

Defending champion Brooks Koepka is tied with Xander Schauffele at +1400 for the third-best odds in the field.

Koepka has also attracted a lot of action, winning over 10 percent of bets and 14 percent of handles.
