Scottie Scheffler, the world's No. 1 golfer, has withdrawn from the PGA Tour's 2025 season-opening tournament after stabbing himself while preparing Christmas dinner.
Yes, it actually happened.
Scheffler was celebrating the holidays with his family at his home in Dallas, Texas, when he was stabbed in the palm of his right hand by broken glass.
His manager, Blake Smith, said Friday that a small piece of glass remained in his palm and required surgery to prevent further complications.
“While preparing dinner on Christmas Day, Scotty was stabbed in the palm of his right hand by a broken glass,” Smith said, according to multiple reports. “A small piece of glass remained in my palm and I needed surgery.”
As a result, Scheffler will be absent from The Sentry, which will be held in Hawaii from January 2nd to 5th.
Smith said he expects to make a full recovery in three to four weeks and aims to return on Jan. 16 at the American Express Tournament in La Quinta, California.

Smith expressed optimism about Scheffler's recovery timeline, saying he should be back to 100 percent after the recovery process.
He will aim to defend his Masters title after winning his second Masters last year.
