SCOTUS Justice Sotomayor Admits She Cries After Conservative Rulings

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who usually sides with liberals in cases, acknowledged that she sometimes cries after rulings that go in favor of conservatives.

Sotomayor acknowledged shedding tears during her acceptance speech at Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute on Friday.

“There were days after the case was announced that I would come into my office, close the door and cry,” Sotomayor said. “There were days like that, and there will be more.”

The judge said there were moments of “deep, deep sadness” at times.

“Sure, even I have moments of despair,” she said. “We all feel that way. But you have to acknowledge it, accept it, shed the tears, wipe them away and get back up.”

Sotomayor did not say which ruling made her cry. Her confession came after the court overturned the ruling. Roe v. Wade, After the courts returned abortion rulings to the states and overturned racial preferences in college admissions.

As I got it. According to Fox News, Sotomayor’s confession could be a harbinger of upcoming decisions when the court will rule on former President Donald Trump’s immunity lawsuit and two abortion lawsuits. It will also rule on whether prosecutors can use federal obstruction laws against those charged in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. As Breitbart News recently reported,

During oral arguments on Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court expressed skepticism toward the Biden Justice Department over whether a man involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, incident at the Capitol could be prosecuted under a law that severely punishes obstruction of official business.

The landmark case could overturn about 350 other cases in which people have been charged with similar crimes under the same provision, about 100 of which have been convicted or pleaded guilty.

The ruling will almost certainly have a major impact on the Biden administration’s prosecution of Donald Trump, leading to the most serious charges against him being thrown out of court.

But Sotomayor joined her colleagues in a 9-0 ruling against Colorado’s attempt to remove former President Trump from the ballot in the state’s Jan. 6 primary election.
