Incident at San Diego Islamic Center

Update 1:28 PM: The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) reported that the situation at the San Diego Islamic Center has been resolved.

Additionally, a media staging area has been established at the northwest corner of Lindbergh Park in San Diego.

12:55 PM: Significant police activity was reported at the San Diego Islamic Center following claims of a gunman on site.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria confirmed via X that there was a shooting incident at the mosque in the Claremont neighborhood and noted that law enforcement was responding to the situation.

Helicopter images revealed a man in a tactical vest on the ground, apparently unresponsive and surrounded by blood. As of 12:45 PM PT, no official confirmation of casualties had been released.

While authorities stated that the situation is under control, police have not yet identified the total number of suspects involved.
