Seahawks’ Ernest Jones IV Speaks Out at Super Bowl Parade
During the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl parade, linebacker Ernest Jones IV humorously reflected on the fact that he might have been the last person anyone expected to have a microphone in his hand. At just 26, he delivered a lively speech that was both passionate and peppered with colorful language, particularly aimed at his critics.
“Honestly, I’m probably the last person they should have given this mic to,” Jones said, expressing his enthusiasm while acknowledging the unexpected nature of his role in the event. “But hey, we made it this far.” He emphasized his desire for recognition and perhaps a bit of respect.
Jones took a moment to express gratitude, thanking team owner Jody Allen, general manager John Schneider, and coach Mike McDonald for their support throughout the season. “It’s all about the journey,” he added, mentioning the team’s hardworking mothers who raised them to play with integrity.
As he celebrated the Seahawks’ relentless drive that led them to victory, Jones had a direct message for their skeptics. “We don’t just have the best defense; we’re the best team,” he asserted. He continued by addressing criticisms directed at various players, including the quarterback and the offensive line. “If you want to say something bad about us, well, I have two words for you—F-you!”
It’s clear that Jones is a key figure in the Seahawks’ robust defense. Over the regular season, he recorded 126 tackles, one sack, and five interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. In the playoffs, he contributed 25 tackles along with an interception and some key defensive plays.
