Seahawks Release Tyrel Dodson After Trading For Replacement Ernest Jones In Truly Cold-Blooded Move

A true representation of the NFL’s ruthless ways …

Seattle Seahawks middle linebacker Tyrel Dodson has been a starter in every game (nine total) in the 2024 campaign, but things will be different in his next contest: He won’t be a Seahawk anymore.

According to an announcement Monday from Seattle, the team will be releasing Dodson. (RELATED: Former NFL Head Coach Jack Del Rio Arrested For Allegedly Driving Drunk, Hitting Street Sign: REPORT)

Dodson will now be placed on waivers and any franchise will have the ability to claim him. Whatever team lands him will pay $1.1 million for the remainder of the campaign. If Dodson was released just one week ago, he could’ve signed with any organization that he wished. However, since the NFL trade deadline is now gone, every released player gets put on waivers.

Seattle made a recent trade for Ernest Jones, who will be replacing Dodson as the team’s starting middle linebacker. Originally, expectations were that Dodson would be starting at the weakside linebacker position following the arrival of Jones, but that role will now be filled by either Drake Thomas or Tyrice Knight.

And maybe this is why Seattle waited to put him on waivers …
