Sean “Diddy” Combs is back in court today, renewing his plea to be held on $50 million bail while he awaits trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Earlier this week, a judge ordered federal prosecutors to delete images of the billionaire's handwritten notes taken during a prison raid, but his lawyers said the notes were protected by attorney-client privilege. They claimed that it had been illegally confiscated. The judge added that extracts from those notes, previously referenced by prosecutors, cannot be used at bail hearings.
The citations in question refer to “tainting” at least two potential witnesses.
Combs, who had his bail denied twice since his arrest in September, last week offered a new bail offer of $50 million, using his Miami Beach mansion as collateral, ending his quest for freedom. So far, judges are keeping the hip-hop icon behind bars, despite the staggering amount of money offered by the defense.

Combs has been held in a federal prison in Brooklyn without bail since his arrest on federal sex trafficking, forced prostitution and extortion charges.
The trial is scheduled for May 5 next year. By then, the U.S. attorney overseeing his case could be replaced by former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton, a nominee of President-elect Donald Trump.
