Sean Hjelle Addresses Abuse Allegations
Sean Hjelle, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, has responded to serious allegations made by his wife, Caroline, which include claims of abuse and infidelity. After the Giants’ recent win against the Boston Red Sox, Hjelle stated, “I don’t have any official comments right now.” He explained that the complexities of their relationship, including divorce and separation, have been ongoing for over a year. “I just want to talk to the right people and figure out what the steps are,” he added.
On the same day, Caroline took to social media, expressing her distress. “When my MLB husband abandoned us this week after Mother’s Day… I’ve been raising our two boys alone because I couldn’t tolerate his issues anymore,” she detailed in her post.
The Giants acknowledged the gravity of the situation, saying they are “aware of these serious allegations.” They mentioned involving Major League Baseball (MLB) in order to address the claims properly, indicating they wouldn’t provide additional comments at this moment.
Before the game against the Red Sox, Giants manager Bob Melvin addressed the issue briefly, confirming that he had spoken to Hjelle about it and that it now falls under MLB’s jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, Caroline had previously posted a vague yet poignant message on TikTok, sharing her feelings of turmoil and frustration. “One hour ago, no one knew I had been devastated…,” she wrote, accompanied by the hashtag “#divorce.”
Melvin noted that, despite the allegations, Hjelle could still pitch for the Giants, but he hadn’t taken the mound in the last two games. Over the course of this season, he has a 4.66 ERA in six appearances, totaling 9.2 innings as he enters his fourth season with the team.
