Manhunt for Mother-in-Law in Beauty Queen’s Murder
Authorities in Mexico City are conducting a large-scale search for a mother-in-law accused of the brutal “execution” of a former beauty queen, caught on video.
The suspect, referred to in reports as Erica Maria “N,” fled shortly after Carolina Flores Gomez, a 27-year-old former Miss Teen Universe, was shot on April 15. Allegedly, the motive stemmed from jealousy over Gomez’s affectionate interaction with her son. This was detailed by Mexican media.
Footage from Gomez’s upscale home in Polanco, one of the city’s most prestigious areas, captures the moment before the tragedy. Reports indicate that she walked to the back of the house to fetch a drink for her mother-in-law.
Just then, Maria appears to follow her, and the sound of six gunshots rings out.
In a troubling sequence, Gomez’s husband, Alejandro, enters holding their baby and questions the mother-in-law about the shooting.
“She pissed me off,” the suspect responds. “You’re mine, and she stole you.”
Authorities noted that Alejandro did not report the incident until the following day, at which point the suspect had already fled and an arrest warrant was issued.
As per a close friend of the deceased, the mother-in-law’s obsessive behavior had escalated after Gomez became pregnant.
When asked how things were going, Flores Gomez reportedly said, “Oh, she doesn’t like me. I don’t know. She never liked me. It got worse after I got pregnant.” Her words convey a sense of tension and fear.
This shocking case has sparked outrage across Central America, with protests demanding justice for the victim occurring in Baja California over the weekend.
Flores Gomez was crowned Miss Teen Universe in Baja California in 2017.
