Seattle hosts ‘biggest fat celebration of the year’ to generate ‘fat joy’ and promote ‘fat liberation’

“Fat Con is a three-day celebration of fat liberation,” the activist says in the video. “We celebrate fat liberation, body acceptance, and the power of being in the fat community,” she explains.

“With a full brunch, a full fashion show, and a full vendor marketplace, the atmosphere will be perfect,” she touts.

The schedule of workshops and discussions includes “Fat Liberation 101,” “Emotions,” and more. [our] “Fat” and “101 ways to lose weight for fat haters.”

Some events appear to be sexual in nature, such as “Rope Bondage 101” and “Fat phobia in Kink.” Another panel discusses Christian dietary culture and the “religious nature of healthism.”

Most events in the schedule include “trigger warnings” that conference attendees should be aware of, such as mentions of “exercise,” “obesity phobia,” certain body types, “diet culture,” etc.

The fat acceptance movement has gained momentum in recent years as activists work together With major companies like Dove Promotes “fat release”.

Some activists argue that efforts to combat obesity are rooted in “colonialism, racism, homophobia and transphobia” and go beyond promoting body acceptance.
