Second man injured during Trump rally shooting has been released from the hospital

A second man injured in the assassination attempt on former President Trump has been released from a Pittsburgh hospital, a spokesperson for the hospital group confirmed to The Hill.

A Highmark Health spokesperson told The Hill that James Copenhaver, 74, was released from Allegheny General Hospital last Friday.

He was one of two spectators injured in a shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The other injured attendee, David Jake Duch, 57, was released from Allegheny General Hospital last week. CBS News reported..

The extent of the injured person’s injuries was not immediately disclosed.

This comes just over two weeks after the shooting that killed spectator Corey Comperatore and injured the former president after he was shot in the ear while speaking at a rally.

An online fundraiser run by President Trump and his supporters to honor Comperatore and two others wounded in the shooting has raised more than $6 million.

Copenhaver’s family, In a statement reported by KDKA in Butlerthanked those who cared for him last week and offered prayers for other shooting victims.

“Jim would like to especially thank the emergency medical personnel, doctors and hospital staff who provided his initial and ongoing care,” the family said in a statement released by Allegheny Health Network (via KDKA). “Jim wishes everyone a safe and speedy recovery.”

Moon Township Supervisor Al Quay told KDKA that Copenhaver attends board meetings frequently.

“Jim is such a good guy and I couldn’t believe something like this would happen to him,” Quay told the outlet.

Trump said last week he plans to hold another campaign rally in Butler, but it’s unclear when or where the rally will take place. The Secret Service, which is under scrutiny following the Butler rally, has notified Trump and his team. Opposed to holding outdoor gatherings Following the shooting.

The former president has campaigned in several states since the shooting, including Michigan and North Carolina. He has worn a bandage over the injured ear every time he has appeared in public since the Butler rally.
