Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has formally announced her resignation.

Her resignation came after dozens of lawmakers called for her to step down following the July 13 near-assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.^Number.

Cheatle, a 28-year veteran of the police department, acknowledged during Monday’s House Oversight Committee meeting that the department’s response to the rally was a “failure,” but still gave agents an “A” for their work that day.
