Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle Resigns After Failures During Trump Assassination Attempt

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has formally announced her resignation.

Her resignation came after dozens of lawmakers called for her to step down following the July 13 near-assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.Number.

Cheatle, a 28-year veteran of the police department, acknowledged during Monday’s House Oversight Committee meeting that the department’s response to the rally was a “failure,” but still gave agents an “A” for their work that day.
