Secret Service director takes coward’s way out when GOP senators confront her at RNC: ‘Resignation or full explanation!’

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle refused to answer questions about the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention.

The furor surrounding the assassination attempt is growing as details slowly leak out about what the Secret Service knew and what it did (or didn’t do) with that information in the hours before a lone gunman opened fire on President Trump at a rally last Saturday.

“She can run, but she can’t hide.”

on wednesday, What became clear was Police had identified the gunman as a suspicious person an hour before he opened fire, and the Secret Service allowed Trump to take the stage even though its anti-sniper team had spotted him 20 minutes before shots rang out.

It remains unclear how the 20-year-old gunman fooled the Secret Service.

But at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Republican senators on Wednesday sought to extract an explanation from the woman ultimately responsible for running the Secret Service.

The video shows a group of Republican senators rebuking Cheatle, including Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, the No. 3 Republican in the Senate, and Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee. Only four questions allowed During a Senate briefing earlier that day.

“Resign now or give us a full explanation!” Barrasso told Cheatle.

“Why would someone [Trump] How can you go on stage knowing there is a potential threat?” Blackburn demanded.

However, Cheatle refused to answer the questions.

“I don’t think this is the place to have this discussion,” she told lawmakers.

The director claimed she would be “happy” to answer questions, but she never answered any of them. She then tried to leave, which infuriated the deputies, who quickly chased her down and continued questioning her.

“That’s exactly what you did today!” Barrasso yelled. “It’s called stonewalling!”

“This is an assassination attempt! He owes the American people an explanation! President Trump owes him an explanation!” Blackburn said.

Cheatle Admitted Although the Secret Service has “failed” in its “absolute duty” to protect President Trump, she remains defiant.

In a statement released after the tense standoff with the senator, the Secret Service Reconfirmed Cheatle said he has “no intention of resigning.”

But according to Blackburn, that’s not enough.

“The Director of the Secret Service’s refusal to answer our questions is egregious. This is one of the biggest security failures in the agency’s history. She can run, but she can’t hide,” the Tennessee Republican said in a statement to The Blaze News.

“She is a failed leader and must resign immediately,” Blackburn added.
