Allie Beth Stuckey Takes on Progressive Christians
In a recent episode of her show “Relatable,” Allie Beth Stuckey engaged in a lively debate with 20 self-identified progressive Christians as part of Jubilee’s series “Surrounded.” The setup was straightforward: seated at a small table, Stuckey presented her arguments while her opponents took turns arguing against her. Participants voted to eliminate each debater after their turn, repeating this process for every point Stuckey made.
Some of the key topics discussed included:
- Only one man and one woman can marry, according to the Bible.
- Abortion is fundamentally a moral evil.
- Empathy can be toxic and potentially lead to sin.
- There’s a fundamental conflict between progressivism and Christianity.
Before diving into the debate, Stuckey sought counsel from Charlie Kirk, noted for his debate skills. She shared on X that she had considered canceling the discussion due to Kirk’s recent passing and the timing of his memorial service but ultimately felt compelled to proceed, recalling that it had been their last conversation. She expressed deep gratitude for his guidance.
Kirk advised her to consistently ask whether her claims were grounded in scripture and to consider the criteria behind her beliefs. He emphasized that it was crucial to distinguish between descriptive and prescriptive statements in the Bible, noting that many challenging Old Testament passages are more descriptive than prescriptive. Additionally, he suggested two pivotal questions for her to ask during the debate:
- What exactly does that mean?
- What Biblical evidence supports that?
These questions could serve as both a defensive mechanism and a means to challenge her opponents effectively.
