Robert Davi Criticizes NYC Mayor Over Omitted Neighborhoods
Actor Robert Davi, known for his roles in Die Hard and The Goonies, took a stand against New York City’s mayor, Zoran Mamdani, after the mayor’s office released a map highlighting the city’s ethnic neighborhoods but left out Little Italy.
Last week, City Hall stirred controversy with a map called “New York City Immigrant Enclaves,” featuring 30 ethnic neighborhoods intended to showcase the city’s diversity for visitors. However, many were quick to notice the absence of significant Italian, Irish, and Jewish communities.
Davi, who hails from Astoria, Queens, didn’t hold back in his criticism. In a post on X, he labeled the mayor a “bastard.” He expressed his outrage: “I hope Italian Americans and Irish Americans in New York see you and spit on you,” he wrote. “If I saw you, I would spit on you. Shame on you, you trash. Respect the city you live in and understand the people who helped build it.”
He further shared his heritage, mentioning that his grandparents came from Sicily and Naples and emphasized, “This is America. God bless America.” He also recalled that his grandfather served in World War I, emphasizing the contributions of Italian immigrants to New York City.
The actor continued, suggesting that Mamdani, whom he criticized as a “leftist Marxist communist,” should consider leaving the U.S. “Go back to where you were born, Mamdani. You don’t belong in America,” he added.
Mamdani, originally from Kampala, Uganda, moved to the United States at a young age. Davi also pointed out that individuals should spend at least one generation in the country before being eligible for public office, especially if they come from a vastly different ideological background.
In defense, the mayor’s office placed blame on the previous administration for the map’s omissions and asserted that neighborhoods like those of the Irish, Jewish, and Italian communities would be included in future updates.
