Trying is always commendable, but on Friday night, during the U.S. Men’s Soccer World Cup match where the team triumphed 4-1 over Paraguay, a fan executed what might be the most infamous attempted streak in soccer history.
A video surfaced on X from the account @ilysalt, showcasing a livestream by streamers Jasontheween and Yugi. Inside SoFi Stadium, enthusiastic fans were seen darting back and forth across the barricades separating the field from the bleachers, though their attempts at streaking during the match ultimately fell flat.
Just about 97 minutes into the game, with the U.S. team ahead at 3-1, fans scrambled to find an ideal moment to leap over the barricades, where a group of security personnel stood ready below.
What transpired was a brief standoff that lasted 25 seconds, culminating in several fans vaulting over the barricade onto the field. In a dramatic twist, security quickly managed to apprehend one of them, making what began as a tense moment feel somewhat anticlimactic.
After the incident, the streamer capturing the scene was overheard expressing frustration, repeating “You’re the F—” followed by “Idiot.” Another fan quickly doused the streaker and a security guard with his beer, garnering jeers from the surrounding spectators.
In the confusion, another security guard scanned the crowd, seemingly trying to identify the person who threw the beer. When he looked in the streamers’ direction, they shrugged and insisted, “Not us. We’re just the streamers.”
