Sebastian Aho

Aho’s goal with 17:45 left tied the game, and he scored on the next faceoff to set up the winner and seal the Islanders’ complete collapse before assisting Jake Guentzel’s empty-netter.

Seth Jarvis

After being demoted to the third line to make room for Andrei Svechnikov, Jarvis scored a goal and recorded his second assist to jump-start Carolina’s comeback.

Semyon Varlamov

Varlamov’s 34 saves may be an underestimate of his performance on a night when Carolina lived in the offensive zone and the Islanders were never comfortable. Varlamov gave his team every chance to win, but the Islanders just didn’t do enough in front of him.

important moment

After Anders Lee put the Islanders up 3-0, Carolina quickly recovered and regained momentum — as pressure in the offensive zone led to a trip penalty from Mathew Barzal and a goal from Teuvo Teravainen. So–kept the home crowd in the game and ensured this was a sure win. A lead that will be difficult for the Islanders to protect.
