Sen. Bernie Sanders Critiques Trump’s Authoritarian Tendencies

Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont has expressed strong criticism of President Donald Trump’s approach, suggesting that it could lead to a trend toward “authoritarianism” both in the United States and globally.

In a statement, Sanders said, “Trump’s disdain for Europe isn’t really about his bizarre comments concerning Greenland. It’s all about his desire to erode democracy and steer our country, and indeed the world, towards authoritarian rule. He doesn’t support free elections, a free press, or the public’s right to dissent.”

According to Sanders, Trump’s animosity toward Europe stems from its robust democratic systems, social safety nets, and commitment to resolving conflicts peacefully. He further accused the president of sending ICE agents to “invade” American cities.

Sanders claimed Trump envisions a world dominated by wealthy elites, stating, “Let’s be clear: President Trump wants to have the world controlled by billionaire oligarchs—like his allies in Saudi Arabia and Russia. These regimes silence political dissent, jail opponents, and engage in outright theft of state resources.”

“As patriotic Americans who cherish our Constitution and the rule of law, we must unite with those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. At this precarious moment in our nation’s history, it’s crucial for all of us, regardless of our political beliefs, to confront the alarming threat of authoritarianism,” Sanders asserted.

Fox News Digital has sought comments from the White House regarding these claims.
