Sen. Sherrod Brown tagged “missing” at Democratic National Convention

Chicago — Around the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, “missing person” posters mocking incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown, one of three Senate Democrats not attending the convention, have popped up in what critics call a political move.

“We were concerned he wouldn’t make it to the United Center this weekend because all his friends were in Chicago,” the Ohio Republican said. Post to X We sent out rescue teams this week and put up “missing” posters in case anyone saw him.

Social media users Post a photo The sign reads that “Extremist Sherrod Brown” is “missing” and “last seen cutting retirement benefits, covering up Kamala Harris’ radical record, opening the southern border and destroying manufacturing jobs in Ohio.”

“Warning,” the poster read, “Sherrod has a fantasy. He thinks skipping the convention will make him a moderate, even though he’s voting for Kamala Harris 99% of the time.”

“I might go to a convention for a day every now and then, but I don’t have any plans to go.”

However, several media Reported Brown has never missed a Democratic National Convention since he was first elected to Congress in 1994.

Brown’s critics have slammed him for not showing up to the United Center in Chicago this week.

“Sherrod Brown votes almost 100% in favor of a Biden-Harris administration,” Reagan McCarthy, a spokesman for Brown’s Republican opponent, Bernie Moreno, told Fox News Digital. “Skippling the convention doesn’t get you away from the most radical presidential candidate in history.”

“Sherrod Brown can lie and try to hide from voters, but he cannot hide his record of voting nearly 100% for harmful Harris-Biden policies, opening the southern border and allowing inflation to soar,” Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Philip Letsow told Fox News Digital. “Brown is a career politician who has been in politics for 50 years, pushing Democratic policies, and he has fooled no one.”

Mehek Cook, CEO of American Frontier Strategies and an Ohio-based political consultant, told Fox News Digital that Brown is a “coward.”

“Sherrod Brown has been in Washington for the same number of years as Joe Biden,” Cook said. “If he’s too timid to show his face to the American people at the Democratic National Convention, then he’s running from something: his record.”

“Sherrod will be meeting with Ohioans across the state this week to discuss his record of fighting for Ohio and Bernie Moreno’s record of self-interest, from not paying his employees overtime to destroying evidence to fleecing the state and opposing the strongest bipartisan border security agreement in decades,” a Brown campaign spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Brown’s campaign noted that the senator has been busy this week campaigning in Cleveland with Sherrod, a hair care professionals’ group, and in Niles, Ohio, with labor union members.

The Ohio Republican Party told Fox News Digital that about 50 posters have been put up around the United Center.

“Mr. Sherrod has not yet arrived at the United Center, so we wanted to help his liberal friends find him,” the Ohio Republican Party said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Kamala Harris, Tim Walz and Joe Biden must be very concerned that he will not be there to celebrate their accomplishments with them.”

“After all, runaway inflation, a historic illegal immigration crisis and rising crime were only made possible with Sherrod’s support. Sherrod may be absent from the Democratic National Convention, but his dangerously liberal policies are not absent.”

The Ohio Senate race between Brown and Moreno is one of the most closely watched in the country, with the Cook Political Report rated it a “50-50” race.
