Texas Sen. Ted Cruz endorsed President Donald Trump on Tuesday night, calling for the country to unite behind the Republican front-runner.
“I'm proud to support Donald Trump for president of the United States,” Cruz said on “Hannity.” I would like to enthusiastically support them.
Cruz, who fought bitterly against Trump in the 2016 primary, argued that the results of the Iowa caucuses showed there was only one strong Republican candidate.
”[Iowa] It was a landslide victory for Donald Trump. I have to say there is no place like the Iowa caucuses. I know that very well. The men and women of Iowa take their responsibilities incredibly seriously. They are vetting candidates,” Cruz said.

“This is a great process and I'm a big believer in making democracy happen. Last night, it happened and I have to say it was a victory for Trump across the board…about that overwhelming victory. “Congratulations to President Trump,” Cruz said. “And at this point, I believe this race is over.”
Trump won 51% of the vote in Monday's Iowa caucuses, defeating Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by 30 points and securing second place just ahead of former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. .

The Texas senator said Trump's landslide victory in the Iowa caucuses shows the former president's candidacy is “compelling.”

“If you're a left-wing Democrat, after Donald Trump, there's no one in this country you'd want to defeat more than me. And Chuck Schumer, I'm his No. 1 target in this country. ,” Cruz continued. “Democrats are going to spend $100 million this year trying to defeat me and overturn Texas Blue. That's not going to happen now.”
President Trump also received an endorsement Sunday from another former 2016 primary competitor, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
