Senate candidate Graham Platner makes a surprising mistake, mispronouncing Bernie Sanders' name twice at a passionate 'Fight the Oligarchy' rally.

Graham Platner Stumbles During Rally Speech

In an enthusiastic rally a week before the Maine primary, Graham Platner, a far-left candidate for the U.S. Senate, mispronounced Senator Bernie Sanders’ name not once, but twice.

Platner led a “Fight the Oligarchy” event alongside Sanders and other supporters in Portland, aiming to bolster his image as a democratic socialist. However, he had some difficulty with the name during his speech.

“Long ago last night, I shared the stage with Senator Standers here in Portland, 13 days after we launched this campaign. It felt surreal then, and to be honest, it still feels surreal now,” Platner remarked.

His second stumble occurred as he wrapped up his speech, which paved the way for Sanders to take the stage.

Platner’s rising profile faced challenges after some troubling social media posts surfaced last week. In one comment tied to his now-deleted Reddit account, he referred to American soldiers as “stupid mothers” while criticizing their bravery in combat situations.

“This video will never get old. Stupid mother didn’t deserve to be alive…” he wrote, suggesting that luck, rather than skill, allowed the soldier to return home safely. This soldier had later received the Purple Heart for his actions.

In another post, Platner made graphic remarks about a porta potty incident, expressing what seemed like an odd sense of pleasure regarding the situation, linking to a Reddit account that no longer exists.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has taken note of these comments, even releasing an AI-generated video that humorously critiques Platner by depicting someone resembling him entering a porta potty, while a child exits another restroom.

“This is Graham Platner. Do not ignore the sign,” the NRSC declared on social media.

Currently, Platner is vying for the Senate seat held by incumbent Republican Susan Collins. He gained traction as the likely Democratic candidate after Maine Governor Janet Mills suspended her campaign.
