Senate confirms Trump’s top military pick in overnight vote

The Senate confirmed that retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan Kane will serve as chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff during the overnight vote on Friday.

Kane was confirmed 60-25 votes after President Donald Trump suddenly fired General Charles Q. Brown Jr. in February. Although his confirmation was bipartisan, several democratic senators, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, protested his nomination in light of Brown's firing.

“Under President Trump, we are introducing new leadership that will focus our military on a core mission of deterrence, fight and victory.”

Still, 16 Democrats joined the Republicans and checked Kane just before the two-week break in Congress.

“General Caine is a skilled pilot, national security expert, successful entrepreneur, and “fighter plane” with important interagency and special operations experience,” Trump said. I said In a true social post.

“My first semester, Rajn [Caine] Trump added. “It was done in record time for weeks, many so-called military 'geniuses' said it would take years to defeat ISIS. Meanwhile, General Cain said it could be done quickly, and he delivered. ”

Trump praised Kane for his previous military experience and his “America First” worldview. Secretary Pete Hegses has also embraced his role in leading the Department of Defense.

“General Kane embodies the spirit of a fighter jet and is truly the leader we need to meet in the moment,” Heggs said. I said In a statement. “I look forward to working with him.”

“Under President Trump, we are introducing new leadership that will focus our troops on the core mission of deterrence, fight and victory,” added Heggs.
