Maduro has claimed to be the “winner” of the election, even as his regime-controlled electoral authorities continue to refuse to release voter data that would support his alleged results. Meanwhile, Venezuela's opposition has released results from local polling stations across the country showing Maduro's landslide victory. This has led to growing international condemnation and domestic unrest.

President Maduro has responded to the widespread protests with a brutal campaign of persecution and repression against dissidents and protesters. At the time of writing, the Maduro regime's crackdown has resulted in 25 confirmed deaths and more than 2,400 arbitrary detentions, including: 120 minors Between 14 and 17 years old.

ICC (International Criminal Court) the current Argentina, under the direction of Prosecutor General Karim Khan, continues to investigate Maduro for crimes against humanity. The investigation is examining evidence from a series of protests in 2017 and was launched after a joint request in 2018 from the governments of Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay and Peru.

The Chilean Senate resolution, passed by 21 votes in favor and none against, was introduced by Senators Felipe Casto of the Political Evolution Party and Francisco Chajuan of the National Renewal Party. The resolution was unanimously approved by members of the Christian Social Party, the Social Green Regionalist Union and the Christian Democrats.

The Chilean Senate resolution called on President Khan to bring the Venezuela case before a pre-trial tribunal to advance judicial proceedings against President Maduro.

Senator Casto expressed satisfaction with the unanimous vote, arguing that the ICC's ongoing investigation already provides all the necessary documentation, including evidence of torture and persecution by the Maduro regime. Senator Casto said this gives the Senate a “moral obligation” to call on President Boric not only to recognize opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez as the true winner of the sham July 28 presidential election, but also to request an arrest warrant for Maduro for “all crimes against humanity for which he has been charged.”

Unlike other leftist governments in the region, such as the leaders of Cuba, Nicaragua and Bolivia who recognized Maduro as the “winner” of the fake elections, and the leftist governments in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico who refused to take a firm stance against Maduro's fraudulent victory and repression, Chile's far-left President Gabriel Boric openly denounced the dictator's July 28 “victory” as fraudulent. Explained McCain, who describes himself as more “left” than the Chilean Communist Party, stands out as an outcast in Latin American politics.

Boric said last week that the Venezuelan Supreme Court, which is loyal to Maduro, The verdict was given To support a dictator's fraudulent “victory.”

“Today, Venezuela's TSJ has finished its determination of fraud. The Maduro regime is clearly happy to accept this infamous verdict,” Bolic's message read. “We are certainly facing a dictatorship that rigged elections, oppressed people who think differently, and is indifferent to the world's largest number of exiles as a result of a war that rivals Syria's.”

“I saw with the eyes of thousands of Venezuelans who shouted for democracy in their homeland and who today saw another door closed,” the message continued. “Chile will not recognize this false victory claimed by Maduro and his allies.”

Boric has been a long-time critic of Maduro and his human rights record. In 2018, while he was a member of the Chilean lower house of parliament, he said: Criticized Leftists who do not condemn the authoritarian regimes in Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

In September 2022, Boric, who became president that year, will re-elect be criticized At an event held at Columbia University on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly, leftists failed to criticize human rights violations committed by those who identify as leftists.

“It really infuriates me when people on the left denounce human rights violations in Yemen or El Salvador but can't talk about Venezuela or Nicaragua,” Boric said at the time.

President Maduro and other members of his administration have responded to Boric's criticism on multiple occasions in the past: Condemn He accused him of “working” for the United States against the Venezuelan regime. Dare They demanded that he sit down for a “direct discussion” about the “democratic truth” of his authoritarian regime.

“Some people accuse us of being dictators. Sebastián Piñera [former president of Chile] “I understand that the left accuses me, and I understand that fascism accuses us,” Maduro said at the time, “but anyone from the left who wants to accuse us will need to have a direct discussion with us about the truth about Venezuela.”

In early August, Maduro accused Boric of supporting Chilean “pro-Pinocheti” forces in training Venezuelan protesters and of trying to overthrow him. Accusation President Maduro has alleged that “international Zionism” is plotting to overthrow his socialist government with the help of other regional heads of state, including Javier Milley of Argentina, Najib Bukele of El Salvador, Daniel Novoa of Ecuador, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and the Spanish populist party Vox. President Maduro has not provided any evidence to support his claims as of press time.
