Schumer Criticizes Trump Over Military Actions

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, took to X on Wednesday to label President Donald Trump as a “military idiot.” He suggested that the current state of the country is “worse” than when the Iran war initially began under Trump’s leadership.

Schumer expressed that Trump’s military initiatives, costing around $44 billion and contributing to rising gas prices—over $4 a gallon—have left the situation deteriorated. He emphasized, “If he reignites this war, we’ll be in an even worse predicament. We urgently need to pass the War Powers Resolution to conclude this conflict definitively.”

In a separate turn of events, President Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran after delivering a stark warning earlier that day about potentially catastrophic consequences. Schumer reacted strongly to Trump’s comments, calling them “extremely sick” and stating that Republican members of Congress who continue to support the ongoing war would bear the ramifications.

After the ceasefire was declared, Schumer expressed relief that Trump is stepping back from his earlier statements, indicating that the president seems to be searching for an exit from his “ridiculous rants.”
