Senate Republicans are possibly gearing up to finalize the confirmation of Donald Trump’s nominee. There’s talk about altering rules that were put in place via “nuclear options,” which would enable a swift review of Trump’s nominees for administrative positions and judgeships.

One proposal being discussed is to allow a single vote for as many as 10 candidates, something that echoes a plan from the Democrats.

The Hill noted:

Senate Republicans are directing their attention towards altering “nuclear choice” rules.

The GOP is aiming to rapidly transition to a plan for a special conference meeting on Wednesday to tackle this matter, following several weeks of discussions before returning home.

While there are various suggestions from the GOP, a key option would involve allowing candidates to be voted on collectively if the upper chamber is amenable, as per the same committee.

This concept is rooted in a Democratic proposal from two years ago that permitted voting on up to 10 candidates at once. Initial Republican strategies might not adhere strictly to the 10-nomination figure and could expand to include several candidates from multiple committees in a single vote.

Donald Trump has previously urged Chuck Grassley to do away with the blue slip rule.

In August, Trump stated: “Chuck Grassley should tell the Democrats to go to hell, like we do!”

He remarked:

I have the constitutional authority to appoint judges and U.S. attorneys, but that right has been completely undermined in states with just one Democratic U.S. senator. This issue arises from an antiquated practice known as the blue slip, and even Sen. Chuck Grassley refuses to abolish it. As a result, the only candidates I can confirm for these critical positions are Democrats, regardless of their beliefs! Grassley should promote strong Republican candidates for these essential roles and tell the Democrats to go to hell, as we often do!
