Senate Republicans Have Enabled Trump’s ‘Un-American’ Lies

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos said Tuesday on “The View” that Senate Republicans who voted not to impeach former President Donald Trump enabled him to tell “un-American lies about the election.” He said there was.

“I think the most important thing for people to understand heading into this election is how far from normal it is,” Stephanopoulos said. No former president or presidential candidate has ever been indicted. No former president or presidential candidate in our history has ever lied about losing an election. No former president or presidential candidate has ever refused to pledge to accept the results of an election. As we all know, the peaceful transfer of power is the most fundamental tenet of our democracy. That’s un-American. I believe it’s unconstitutional, and I think it’s the media’s job to put it in context.”

He added, “I don’t know exactly, but I think part of the reason is that the people you were talking about earlier in the court, former President Trump’s allies, came to the court. are, in a sense, enablers.” This is disqualifying, but all of this is permissible. You know, this could have been suspended after his January 6th. Trump was impeached, but the Senate said it wasn’t going to convict him because, “Oh, he can be tried in court.” And now they say, “It’s illegal to try him in court.” ”
