The Biden administration is urging Senate Republicans to support reviving a failed bipartisan border deal that former President Trump abandoned after voicing his opposition.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, R-N.Y., is scheduled to hold a second vote on the bill on Thursday, but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., informed President Biden on Monday that Republicans plan to vote against the bill.
White House officials on Wednesday sought to hold Republicans accountable for inaction on border issues.
The blame game highlights the downward spiral the deal has taken from the much-touted, and much-feared, workable bill it was earlier this year to a twice-broken messaging bill that will never pass.
Voting is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm EDT.
