Disturbing Incident Involves Longtime Sex Offender
Authorities have reported a deeply troubling incident involving a known sex offender, commonly referred to as “Cookie Monster.” Laverne Scott, aged 65, was discovered naked in a young boy’s bedroom, where he allegedly woke the child with screams and restrained him on the bed.
As detailed in an unsettling police account from Omaha, Nebraska, Scott reportedly managed to enter a home through an unlocked door early on a Friday morning. This marked a continuation of his troubling history, which spans nearly four decades.
The boy, who is just 9 years old, was disturbed from sleep, terrified to find Scott in bed with him, the report indicated.
Scott is said to have “pinned the child down,” using his legs to keep the boy secure on the bed, according to police reports. It’s, well, hard to imagine the fright and confusion such a situation would cause in a child.
Thankfully, the boy’s grandfather burst into the room to find Scott at the foot of the bed, holding a water bottle and lotion. It’s just … horrifying.
The grandfather managed to remove Scott from the bedroom and locked the door afterward, a brave act given the circumstances.
Shortly after, law enforcement received another report that Scott, who is on a lifetime sex offender registry, attempted to enter a different home, claiming it was his own.
Police apprehended him just a short distance away, found wearing only socks. It’s a bizarre detail that seems to encapsulate the situation.
Scott faces multiple charges, including robbery, child abuse, and failing to register as a sex offender, which he has violated several times before.
His criminal record is extensive. He was initially convicted of first-degree sexual assault back in 1987 and again for similar offenses in 1999. As a result, he is required to remain registered for life.
Further violations have occurred as recent as 2024, with records showing that he last confirmed his residence to authorities about three years ago, in May 2023.
In addition to these serious charges, Scott has a history that includes three counts of indecent assault and six counts of burglary in Nebraska.
Currently, he is held at the Douglas County Correctional Facility, with bail set at $1.25 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 1st.
