Sex shop in Canada receives letter from US Department of War after its butt plug appears in Bahrain

A Canadian sex shop has gotten into hot water with the U.S. Army after some of its adult items found their way to Bahrain, where such products are banned.

Grace Bennett, who runs Bonjibon, an online sex shop based in Toronto, expressed her surprise upon receiving two signed letters from the Department of Defense. “I’m upset that a Bahraini soldier ordered spicy toys from my store,” she shared.

Bennett explained that she had no idea the toys—an anal plug and a bullet vibrator—were being shipped to Bahrain. She suspects the packages might have been forwarded to a U.S. Navy unit stationed there.

The letters warned sternly that “pornographic materials and equipment are prohibited from being brought into the Kingdom of Bahrain.” This warning came from a U.S. naval base in Bahrain, along with the returned items.

Bahrain is known for its conservative stance on such matters. Bennett humorously recalled that even Kim Kardashian faced backlash when she visited the country in 2012 for a promotional event.

“All American soldiers stationed overseas, especially in places where these items are illegal, cannot order from Bonjibon,” Bennett stated regarding her business.

She laughed as she recounted how the Pentagon classified the toys as posing an immediate danger, calling it one of the funniest experiences she’s had since starting her shop.

Bennett decided to frame the letters in her office, commemorating the incident in a playful way.

In a video, she expressed sympathy to soldiers overseas, saying, “We know it’s a long and lonely journey. We can’t continue this journey with you.”

Social media commentary was lively, with users sharing humorous reactions. One Instagram user asked, “Wait, soldiers are buying B plugs?”

Others chimed in, noting that women could be soldiers too and mentioning that the presence of spouses in Bahrain likely made the situation more relatable.
