The Pit Season 2 Episode 4 Overview
Episode 4 of Season 2 of The Pit, titled “10 a.m.,” offers perhaps one of the most endearing moments in HBO Max’s lineup. The character Victoria Javadi, played by Shabana Azeez, is not only shy and a bit socially awkward but also surprisingly popular on TikTok.

At the start of this episode, one of the funnier patients returns to visit Dr. Langdon, portrayed by Patrick Ball. Willow Baptiste, a self-absorbed Gen Z woman, arrives with one of her eyes inadvertently glued shut—this time due to superglue used for her false eyelashes. As Dr. Langdon provides her with medical advice, Willow is visibly anxious and requests to meet Dr. J., who she insists is a leading doctor in Pittsburgh. However, Langdon hasn’t heard of him, and as Willow shows Langdon a TikTok of “Dr. J,” it becomes clear that this is actually Djawadi.
When Djawadi arrives, Willow reacts as if she is meeting a celebrity, having consumed all of Javadi’s content, particularly the video addressing how to cope with “difficult co-workers.” Dr. Langdon jokingly suggests he might need to learn from that video himself.
Because of Willow’s trust in Javadi, the med student finally manages to resolve her eyelash dilemma, which creates a humorous yet pivotal moment in the show. Interestingly, Azeez shared that this storyline would carry significant weight for the remainder of the season.
Azeez expressed, “I’m thrilled that people are engaging with this. It’s a lengthy narrative to dissect, truly. We don’t have all the details figured out, which leaves room for speculation and anticipation.” She believes viewers will gradually understand the characters’ biases more as the story unfolds.
Co-star Fiona Dourif noted, “This narrative plays with the biases surrounding social media in an intriguing manner.”
Azeez commented, “Social media has become a major part of young women’s lives.” Dourif added, “Absolutely. Although I sometimes feel social media can be pretty toxic, it doesn’t necessarily have to be damaging.” There’s a recognition of how these platforms affect users’ lives.
Azeez shared her thoughts on the negative algorithms of social media that often create a “rage bait” environment. Yet she sees a silver lining too, recognizing the platform’s ability to foster empathy and community among diverse individuals.
“That’s a valid point,” Dourif replied thoughtfully.
Azeez highlighted how social media significantly bolstered Javadi’s confidence during this season. “Her online community has really played a role in elevating her self-esteem,” she explained, emphasizing Javadi’s identity as part of the “iPad generation” and how her experiences differ from older generations. “For her, it’s a safe space.” she added.
She continued, “Given Javadi’s isolation throughout her life, both online and offline connections are incredibly precious to her.” She expressed happiness in Javadi beginning to carve out a space that fosters self-worth, describing her TikTok presence positively.
Willow appears to have similar experiences, though she doesn’t seem entirely thrilled with her latest venture—a new lash line.
New episodes of The Pit air Thursdays at 9 PM ET on HBO Max.
