Grace Brassel, Shane Gillis’ former girlfriend, recently threw shade at the comedian following his controversial monologue on “Saturday Night Live,” where he made remarks about women at the gym.
On Tuesday, Brassel shared a clip of comedian Dan Levy critiquing Gillis for his “misogynistic” joke on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by the message, “ANYWAYS… y’all need anything from the store?”
She continued the subtle jabs by posting a gym selfie with the caption, “fitcheck!”
Brassel also posted an Instagram Reel the next day with the title, “Full body workout for hoes,” seemingly in reference to her ex’s ill-fated quip.
The pair confirmed their relationship in July 2024, but they quietly parted ways about a year later.
During his time hosting NBC’s show Saturday, Gillis faced backlash for his comments regarding female gym attendees.
“I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like whores now,” Gillis stated. “Look, I’m sorry there’s no other way to describe it. Have you seen it? I’ve seen it.”
He went on to describe the shorts women wear, comparing them to colors used for artificial bait, commenting on how they fit in various areas.
His remarks have drawn criticism from public figures like Jenna Bush Hager, Kathy Griffin, and Levy, as well as many former “SNL” cast members.
“This perpetuates what is happening in our culture where people are commenting on women’s looks ad nauseam … and it’s not OK,” Bush Hager remarked during a Tuesday episode of “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.”
Griffin expressed to Page Six that Gillis represents a particular group of men from social media who “all look like they can’t get laid.” She criticized this group for recycling outdated jokes and attitudes toward women.
In a similar response to Brassel, Cecily Strong posted a workout photo with a cheeky caption.
“On my way to Pilates in my new slutty ass orange shoes and rainbow socks,” Strong captioned her Instagram Stories post, suggesting she might “sell sex on the way, not sure.”
Gillis, who was initially cast on “SNL” in 2019 but was let go after just five days, has yet to address the backlash from his comments.
