Shane Lowry doesn’t want to talk about Rory McIlroy, rips media after round

Shane Lowry appears to have been frustrated following his third round master.

“No. No, I'm not going to stand here and talk about Rory for 10 minutes,” he snapped to reporters. “I'm also trying to win the tournament.

“I know that's what I want you to say, but I just finished. I have the chance to win the Master tomorrow and I'm going to hit the ball.”

Despite a strong start, Laurie finished his round with 17 and 18 bogeys on Saturday, upsetting the course with a score of 72.

During Saturday's interview session, Laurie also suggested that golfers should not be asked immediately after the round.

“Yeah, a lot of pain, especially the last two holes,” he admitted. “After enjoying all the bits of today, I hit that putt with 17 and couldn't believe it. I thought I had a great holling before hitting a very poor tee shot at 18.

“I'm going – we'll talk about the Morikawa River River a few weeks ago. I think we'll need time. I think it'll take 30 minutes to sit there and gather ideas. I can't talk to you all right away.

Although he was upset about McIlroy's question, it still took Laurie to recognize the frontrunner's performance at Augusta National.

“I've got off to a great start,” he recalls. “It had an incredible vibe, and Rory was clearly playing well behind me, and the roo had to get up a little.

“But I was around a block long enough to know that I needed to do it. I felt like I did a good job. It's a very unfortunate finish. I'm very disappointed. But it's this game.

Before the final round Sunday, Lowry is tied to a seven-shot behind McIlroy, who is 6th on a 5-under par and number one.
