Stryker Partners with Shane Lowry

Stryker, a prominent player in the medical technology field, has announced a new partnership with renowned golfer Shane Lowry during the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut. Lowry will serve as the Sponsored Brand Ambassador for Stryker’s joint replacement surgery division. This partnership aims to shed light on the vital role that caregivers play for those dealing with joint pain, surgery, and recovery.

As a caregiver for his father Brendan, a former Gaelic footballer who underwent knee and hip replacements, Lowry offers a unique viewpoint. He has witnessed the effects of joint pain not just on patients, but also on their families. Studies indicate that support from family and caregivers significantly enhances recovery outcomes. In collaboration with Stryker, Lowry will help raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals suffering from joint pain and motivate caregivers to be actively involved in their loved one’s journey, from education to recovery.

“Watching my dad struggle with hip and knee pain was more challenging than anything I’ve faced on the golf course. As a caregiver, you want to assist, but sometimes it’s tough to know where to begin,” Lowry expressed. “I realized that asking the right questions, finding the right doctor, and simply being present can make a huge difference. At that time, I wasn’t aware of how much Stryker offered to help those with joint pain. Now, I’m proud to work with a company that supports individuals in their journey to keep moving forward. Hopefully, by sharing my experience, I can inspire others to take that first step with their loved ones.”

Through a global campaign featuring media outreach, social media engagement, and educational activities, Lowry seeks to highlight the importance of caregivers and encourage active participation in joint replacement surgery. By concentrating on awareness, education, and access to resources, the campaign aims to empower caregivers to assist their loved ones, guiding them from understanding treatment options to embarking on the path to recovery.

“Joint replacement surgery is more than just a medical procedure; it’s a personal journey that affects both patients and their supporters,” remarked Katherine Truppi, president of Stryker’s joint replacement division. “While our goal is to keep lives moving, we also recognize the crucial, though often overlooked, role that caregivers play in steering treatment decisions and facilitating recovery. Shane’s narrative brings this perspective to life in a genuine and impactful manner, which we hope will reach even more people.”
