Shapiro Questions Harris on Biden’s Health Concerns Ahead of 2024 Election
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro recently addressed ESPN host Stephen A. Smith about why former Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t voice any worries regarding the health of President Joe Biden as the 2024 election approaches. In Smith’s “Straight Shooter” podcast, Shapiro mentioned that Harris shared her concerns in her new book, “107 Days,” but hadn’t publicly acknowledged them before.
“I haven’t read the former Vice President’s book, so she has to respond for herself, but it’s curious she didn’t speak out publicly,” Shapiro remarked to Smith.
Shapiro expressed that he has been quite outspoken about Biden’s viability for another run, suggesting Biden’s staff may not have fully briefed him on potential concerns regarding his support.
“I aimed to communicate honestly, in a constructive manner. I think it’s important to be direct in situations like this,” Shapiro explained. There was a notable hesitation in his tone, reflecting the complexity of political communications.
When asked if he intends to run for president in 2028, Shapiro indicated he felt a strong responsibility as governor and doesn’t take the position lightly.
“I care deeply about this country. We’re at a crucial juncture for various reasons,” Shapiro noted, revealing his discomfort with the current political climate. He elaborated that finding a “common sense direction” for both the country and his party is pivotal.
The conversation also hinted at underlying tensions, with political experts noting that even though Shapiro is seen as a likely candidate, interviews have suggested there might not be perfect harmony between him and Harris.
While there may seem to be some contradiction in their professional dynamics, it’s evident both officials hold significant sway in shaping future political landscapes.
