Cleveland Browns Face Quarterback Decisions Post-Preseason
The Cleveland Browns are at a crossroads regarding their quarterback situation as they move past the preseason, following their game against the Los Angeles Rams. The team now needs to finalize their roster to 53 players.
Shedeur Sanders is one of the quarterbacks on the roster bubble. In the game against the Rams, he didn’t exactly shine, going 6 for 6 with just 14 passing yards and getting sacked five times in the third quarter. Not the best showing, for sure.
When a reporter asked him if he felt he deserved a spot on the final roster, he paused, flashed a smile, and then answered, “Obviously. Overall, as a player, I think I’ve worked hard. I’m doing everything I can. That’s all I can ask for.” He reiterated that, well, every player probably feels like they deserve to be on the team.
Sanders mentioned he believed he’s demonstrated enough during preseason to earn his place. Meanwhile, he’s up against competition from Tyler Huntley and rookie Dillon Gabriel, who are also vying for a backup job behind Joe Flacco. Gabriel completed 19 of 12 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown, while Huntley had just 1 completion on 1 attempt for 7 yards. Kenny Pickett didn’t see any action in this game.
In terms of the game itself, the Browns managed to secure a victory, edging out the Rams with a score of 19-17. Now, with decisions looming, it’ll be interesting to see how the quarterback lineup shakes out.
